Indiana's Ruel Commits

Chris Heisenberg is reporting that Indiana rookie defenseman, Ian Ruel, has made his college choice. Ruel will be attending Bowling Green State University in the fall of 2008 or 2009. Ruel is a big defender, standing in at 6'2" 194. He has yet to play in a game during the regular season due to a hand injury suffered in a fight at the Fall Classic against Sioux City's Donnie Hallmark. He is eligible to return November 12th. Though quite young, Ruel has plenty of talent and can turn into a solid defenseman for Indiana as early as this season.

Ruel becomes the 2nd defenseman that the Falcons have had commit to their program in this early season. They have also received a commitment from Green Bay's Robert Shea.

Wow! He is a 90 and hasn't even shown what he can do in the USHL...what was that based on, his success with Victory Honda? What are some of these colleges thinking......why the rush!?

I think it's a great move by bowling green. If he's a 1990 birth date and good enough to play in the USHL, then why not scoop him up early before they would have to compete with bigger name schools. Congratulations to him as well.
