Waterloo's Mike Marcou, younger brother of James Marcou, has committed to UMass-Amherst for the fall of 2009. Marcou is on the small side, but that could mean he is quite mobile. He didn't have outstanding numbers for the Hawks, but that could very easily change next season as he will be a veteran on their blue line.
Also, Cedar Rapids draft pick Sean Coughlin made a commitment to Quinnipiac for this fall. Coughlin was at the RoughRider tryout camp and made the team, but decided to turn down a couple offers for '08 and go to college now. He was an '87 birth date, so that could have played a major role in his decision to take the scholarship now as opposed to waiting it out for a better offer to come along.
Ohio's Eric Rex has committed to Canisius College for the fall of 2007. Rex didn't put up great numbers in Ohio, but he was still a solid player. Another year in the USHL and he could have gotten a better offer, but I don't blame the kid for taking the offer that was on the table at the current time. Ohio didn't protect Rex, so I assume they knew he was going to sign on with a college before too long.
A little old, but Chicago Steel defenseman, Luka Vidmar, committed to the University of Alaska-Anchorage if I'm not mistaken. Vidmar was easily one of the better players on a not so great Steel team and will be a nice addition to the Seawolves.
