Sioux City fans breathe a sigh of relief

Their head coach isn't going anywhere, at least not yet. It was announced today that Sioux City Musketeers' head coach Dave Siciliano has withdrawn his name from the Lakehead University coaching job and will return to Sioux City for the 07-08 season.

Article (courtesy of www.musketeershockey.com - link also posted above):
Dave Siciliano confirmed late Saturday that he has withdrawn his name from consideration for the vacant coaching position at his alma mater, Lakehead University in Thunder Bay Ontario. Dave will return for his 8th season behind the bench for the Musketeers.

"I will be back and I am excited about the upcoming tryout camp. We have a good nucleus of players returning and we are very happy with the results of the USHL entry draft last week" said Siciliano.

Musketeer's President Jim Kronschnabel said, "We are thrilled Dave is returning. We have a great coaching staff and management team in place and we are all excited to be together again for this upcoming season. Both Dave and his wife Carol are integral parts of the Musketeers organization and I am very pleased they have decided to stay with us."

Siciliano is the second winningest coach in USHL history with 490 wins and is only 27 behind all-time leader and former Musketeer coach Bob Ferguson. He's also the second winningest coach in Musketeer history with 241 wins which is only 15 behind Ferguson as well.

I'm sure this will discourage some opposing team fans since a coach of this caliber will still be coaching Sioux City (I got that from a few comments people left when I mentioned Siciliano leaving earlier) but fans in Sioux City rejoice.
