Gamblers Write-Up

Thanks to Jamie from Green Bay for this write-up for the Gamblers.

The Green Bay Gamblers take the long trip out west for three games. Friday and Saturday night they play Lincoln and on Sunday they play Sioux falls. The Gamblers are looking to get the monkey off their back and get their first win in 2008, while the fans are trying to get the monkey of a coach off the bench and get someone that knows how to coach hockey. The Gamblers haven't played Lincoln this year and it won't be easy. Their goaltender Reekie(9-2-0) has been on fire lately with a GAA of 1.21. Their other goalie Murdock(3-6) with a 3.14 not as good but with them playing the Gamblers I would think he will get at least one start. Also with Ryan Kretzer(15 goals, 21 assists) and Jason Gregoire(14 goals, 21 assists) will be hard to stop. Then Sunday in Sioux Falls 2-1 against the gamblers this year will possibly going up against their old goaltender Max Strang(8-8-3) with a GAA 2.84 or Hartzell(6-4-2) with a GAA 6-4-2. Also there top score Jack Connolly 14 goals and 25 assists. The Gamblers top scorer is C.J. Lee 13 goals and 9 assists and Goaltenders Crandall(4-9-2) with a GAA 3.44 and Conway(5-7-1) with GAA 3.64 have been splitting time in net all season.

there are 8-10 fans chanting "fire mazz" at each home game. the rest of the crowd ignores them.

Yes there is. Probly about 10-12 fans chanting "FIRE MAZ", There about 3-4 people wearing bag. There a coach that doesn't know how to coach in this league. The fans that are ingoring the chants like you say is either there just to drink or Maz's friends. He drove away all the real hockey fans with his boring coaching style. If you dont believe me look at the attendance we down about 900 fans right now per GAME, have one of the best buildings and we rank 10th in the league. Pretty SAD!!!

OH NO ... I undercounted the chanters by 2! 2! Oh, the tragedy.

As for attendance, it's down 723 per game from last year. If you're going to criticize me for being off by 2 on the chanters, then WOW! - how far off are you saying 900!

And the Resch wasn't built for the Gamblers....

I said there ABOUT 10-12chanting "FIRE MAZ". Probly more than that. I think more people would do it but dont have the balls to stand up and do it. Go into the season ticket holders room during the intermissions(if you even support Gamblers hockey and go to all there games)and listen to the season ticket holders in there. Most of them all agree Maz can't coach in this league and the last 4 years show it. Yes he did a great job at Stevens point but at the ushl level he doesn't have the talent teaching these young players.

Ok yes its only 723 fans per game, so we had 18 games so far and thats a total of 13014 fans that did't show. Then lets see go on the low side of what tickets cost $10.00 per ticket and thats $130,140 dollars. I dont know about you but thats alot of money and that doesn't include money they would of made of the consession stand.

No the resch center wasn't build just for the Gamblers but its a nice think for them to have every year to guarantee at least 30 nights to have an event there. Just think if we had a coach that knew what he was doing and a winning team we could get a few playoff games too.

I am confident I have been to more games than you have over the years - and am also a season ticket holder. I am also frustrated with what is going on. I'm simply saying that the public displays are not overly widespread.

Maybe, I dont know I been a season ticket holder since the 2nd year and since then i think i missed maybe 4 5 games. I wish more people would stand up and voice there opinion about the problems with the team the last couple years.

4 or 5 games missed

Yep - me too. And I've been to Gamblers games in Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Twin Cities, Omaha, Tri City, Indiana, Chicago, Sioux City, Des Moines, North Iowa, Rochester, Tulsa, Springfield, Dubuque, Monroe, Schofield, Fond du Lac...

Great. We've both got "fan credentials." I wasn't ripping on yours - I just was pointing to others that it's not 2-3 thousand people per game chanting. Don't read more into than that, please.

And I agree there are issues with Mazz.

Yes we do, I also go on road trips every year and i have been to many of them places also. I just took your first post as ripping on the fans that are standing up to Maz and PMI Sorry, but most fans including myself is very frustrated and are hoping for a change very soon.
