I received my first write-up today, and it comes from Jeremy in Cedar Rapids from their weekend series with Green Bay, and their upcoming games.
Brady Hjelle stopped 57 of 60 shots as the RoughRiders swept the unusual 2 game series in Green Bay. Saturday's game was postponed due to the NHL Playoffs. Casey Wellman and Kyle Flanagan each scored 2 goals in Sunday afternoon's win. Zak Stone scored his first USHL goal and Nick Oddo kept his hot streak alive (5 goals in last 10 games). This upcoming weekend gives the RoughRiders a chance at revenge as they play Sioux Falls on Saturday night in Cedar Rapids a team who defeated the RoughRiders just before Christmas break, but first the RoughRiders face the Chicago Steel on Wednesday night in Bensenville and then again on Friday at the Stable. Chicago has been on a streak as of late going 6-0-1 in their last seven games. Cedar Rapids is 3-0 vs Chicago this season with Brady Hjelle earning all of those wins. Matt Tomassoni is the RoughRiders leading scorer vs. Chicago with 5pts. Followed by Kyle Flanagan, Tyler Thompson and Matt Donovan. Chicago is lead by now departed Andy Miele who had 4 points followed by 3pt s from Brian O'Neill. The RoughRiders are 1-1 vs the Stampede this season with Kent Patterson getting both starts. Bryce Aneloski is the RoughRiders leading scorer with 1 goal and 2 assits vs the Stampede followed by 2 points from Nick Oddo, Ian Slater, Tyler Thompson, Mike Siedel and Casey Wellman. The Stampede are lead by Jack Connolly's 4 points followed by Jake Hansen. Goalie Max Strang has started both games vs Cedar Rapids this season with Eric Hartzell getting 9:00 of time.
