A couple of pictures from Des Moines will show just why the game was suspended. (Photos courtesy of Kevin Kasel.)

It was warm all over on Saturday night..why did only the Buc's game have the problem?!

Sioux Falls had a fog problem too.

But not that bad!

no ac plus the high humidity outside didn't help

Plus a midget tournament in Des Moines was keeping the doors open and closed all day long, so the humidity made the place seem like a sauna.

Uhhh...yeah. Des Moines was definitely worse than SF. I thought it was a little weird looking at the other end of the rink & not seeing the GK from the knees down, how about not seeing the players at all...
The Red Wings announcers tonight are talking about ice issues the humidity there, so I guess the big guys are trying to deal with unseasonable weather now too.

Does anyone know if new ice is more susceptible to this issue than late season ice? Or is it the months of humidity in the summer as opposed to spring time being the start of higher humidity?

I think it has more to do with the humidity and facility. It was really warm in the MAC, but the ice was in good shape, and there wasn't any fog either.

I know the '88 Campbell Finals in Detroit had fog issues, as '88 was a very hot summer in Detroit. I ranted about this a little on my blog, but there's really no excuse for these facilities to not have climate controls.

Fine Marc, then you pay the bills. Not everyone can do things the way you expect them to. And how dare the people who built Buccaneer Arena not consult with you when it was built in what, the 60s or 70s?

Sheesh!

So I guess the only folks that know how to build ice is in Texas? Hey, we've had pro teams down here since 1941...
