Fuher Added To Stars Staff

NICK FUHER NAMED AS ASSISTANT COACH
The Lincoln Stars rounded out their coaching staff by naming Nick Fuher as assistant coach for the 2007-08 season. Fuher, a former Stars defenseman during the 1999-2000 and 2000-01 seasons, will reunite with former teammate Nick Fouts on Lincoln’s staff, with the responsibility of working with the Stars’ defensemen.

Originally from Grand Forks, Nick went on to play four years at the University of North Dakota after his USHL career in Lincoln. At the conclusion of his collegiate career, he was signed by the AHL’s Utah Grizzlies and played only three games before an eye injury ended his promising career.

“Nick was obviously a very good hockey player, both in Lincoln and at North Dakota,” said Stars Head Coach Jimmy McGroarty. “He’s gained a lot of experience playing for some great coaches, which we’ll be able to benefit from as he teaches our young defensemen. His playing style is very different from that of Nick Fouts, and we expect this combination to be very good for our players. The feedback I’ve received about Nick from other coaches around the country has been incredible, and we’re excited to add him to our staff.”

Nick coached my kid while still in college with TNW and was fabulous. The eye injury was very unfortunate. I look forward to watching his career as a coach.
