Morning Update

Marc Foster mentioned that the USHL will try a new icing rule during the pre-season.

The USHL will experiment with their icing rule in the preseason, extending the touch area from the goal line to the face-off dots. If an attacking player is clearly going to win the race then icing is waved off. If a defending player is clearly going to win the race then icing is called. In the event of a dead heat to the dot it is judgment of the official. The league will try this format for the pre-season and go from there. If they don’t like it then automatic icing will be put in place.
I remember not too long ago when they experimented with the icing part of the game. The team that iced the puck was not able to make a line change. That didn't last beyond the Buc Bowl, so I don't know if this one will either. I prefer touch icing myself, but automatic icing may prevent an injury or two. I think that is also the same time they tried two refs.

Patterson doesn't buy into goalie stereotypes.

For anyone keeping score at home, the three finalists for the Lincoln head coaching job are rumored to be Chad Johnson (Steve's younger brother,) Jim McGroarty (current assistant coach,) and Kevin Hartzell (current head coach for Sioux Falls.)

"In the event of a dead heat to the dot"

So are they racing to the dot or the puck?

If the Stampede organization doesn't do everything in their power to keep Hartzell in Sioux Falls I give up on this front office.

I'd have to think Hartzell is the leading candidate for the Stars job. As a Lincoln fan, I hope the Stars can sign him. I think he'd do well in Lincoln.

you 180 degres away from boozing, running around all night, missing school, and having fights where players get maimed while coach is sleeping in his office? yeah, you are right!
