The Streak Ends

Paul Stastny's 20 game scoring streak ended last night, but his Avalanche won the game 4-3. Paul recorded 29 points in the 20 games (11-18--29). Not thought of to be counted on when first signed from the University of Denver, Stastny has definitely made a name for himself. He had closed the point gap between him and Evgeni Malkin of the Pittsburgh Penguins, but Malkin has since opened up a little bit of a lead, but how can you overlook what Stastny has done? Not only has he set a new record for a point scoring streak by a rookie, but he has also helped push the Avalanche within 4 points of claiming the 8th and final playoff spot in the West. The Avs were behind the last playoff spot by 10 points, and that was just a couple of weeks ago.

I think if the Avalanche make the playoffs, Stastny has to be the choice for the Calder.

There hasn't been much for major USHL news lately, but hopefully I will have something to write about this week.
