Random Notes

A little late, but Mike Embach has made a committment to Ferris State University for the 07-08 season. Embach has recorded 14 points (7-7--14) in 21 games for the Steel, passing his total from last season (13) in 24 less games. Ferris State picked up a quality player.

"Mike is a tremendous player and asset to our club," said Steel head coach Chris Imes. "He competes very hard, can score, and will be a great addition to the Bulldogs hockey program next fall."

Sioux City placed veteran defenseman Sean Coffey on the IR. Coffey only appeared in 7 games for the Musketeers and recorded 1 assist. Coffey started the season hurt, with a shoulder injury, but finally made his debut November 11th. I'm pretty sure he re-injured his shoulder in a game vs Ohio 2 weekends ago.

Sioux City has added defensemen Kevin Quick to take Coffey's roster spot. Quick has a scholarship to attend the University of Michigan for next fall. He was drafted 78th overall in the 2006 entry draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The smooth-skating, offensively skilled (yet defensively responsible) playmaking defenseman was invited to Tampa Bay’s summer prospect camp. Quick made perhaps the biggest impact of any of the invites, bringing dynamic playmaking ability with levelheaded decision-making far beyond his years to camp.

Also a little old, but the Lincoln Journal Star had an excellent article about Dan Comrie in it. Be sure to give it a read. (Thanks to the Lincoln fan that showed this to me.)
