Tryout camp news from the Herd






Team Red scored four times in the first half and held on to defeat Team White 4-2 in the first game of Sunday morning.

It was obvious from the beginning that Team Red was ready to go. They scored four times in the first half (20 minutes).

Camp news from Y'town










Twenty-fours hours before finalizing his first USHL roster, Youngstown Phantoms coach Curtis Carr says relaxation is a luxury.

“It’s stressful because we’re trying to put together the right pieces to the puzzle,” said Carr before Tuesday’s scrimmage at the Ice Zone. “You don’t sleep too much because you’re constantly thinking. But I really like what we have.”

KEARNEY, Neb. – There was a mission for Head Coach/General Manager Drew Schoneck going into the Tri-City Storm’s Main Camp last week. His assignment was to select a defensive core that will be stronger this season.

“The group of defensemen was a lot better than where we were a year ago in camp,” said Schoneck. “Where we are going to be in the league [regarding defensemen] this year is yet to be determined, but it is a lot better already.”

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders held their 2010-11 Tryout Camp last weekend at The Stable. The camp consisted of 4 teams playing 3 games each on Friday and Saturday morning. On Saturday evening the first of two top prospect games was held. The camp concluded on Sunday morning with the final top prospect game.
