Protected Lists

The USHL has released them. I am in the process up updating my spreadsheet to reflect any players left off or any players re-added that were thought to be heading to college. I will list them when done. I believe 1990 born players on the futures list are to be protected as well.

It's a big state so where is the Nebraska team located? Could it be that the University of Nebraska is getting a hockey team?

Some interesting names on protected lists.

Is Brett Bruneteau going to play another year at Des Moines or is he going the North Dakota?

Mike Cichy was originally committed to go to North Dakota this fall, is he playing another year at Tri-Cities?

For the Lancers I knew that Arnt, Elbrecht, Eveland, Hauswirth, Palmisano, White, and Wiercioch were supposedly coming back. I was surprised to see Diamond and Lewadniuk on the protected list. Diamond was originally to go to Maine this fall, but it would be great for the Lancers if he were back. Lewadniuk was one of the Lancers best forwards the 2nd half of the year, and was originally to go to Bemidji State this fall.

where is Aaron Schmit from Chicago?

hmmmm...Squires is on Indiana yet I thought he was going to Western in 2008?

Aaron Schmit accepted a scholarship to Ferris State.

What about affiliated players that were not added to the Initial Protected Lists. Will they still be protected as futures or are they now eligible for the Entry Draft?

Ryan said...

I BELIEVE that the players drafted that were born in 1991 are automatically protected. Teams had to protect any 1989 or 1990 born players on the list. Those in 89 or 90 not protected would become free agents.

Where is chris hickey fro tri-city going to college? the last i had heard he was not one of the six players who signed LOI at wisconsin?

Ryan said...

I assume he's heading to Wisconsin if he's not being protected, but I don't know for certain. I saw on Heisenberg's site he was 2009 recruit.

guentzel must be ready to commit if he's not protected.

Does anyone know why Siim Liivik wasn't protected? Is he going back to Finland?

Anonymous said...

I heard Livik is going to play in the Finnish Elite league for the 08 season.

Why is Festler protected? Is he not going to SCSU next year?

Does anyone know how many imports a team can protect including the affiliated list and players going to college and vets???

Surprised to see Anthony Decenzo deleted from Nebraska/Tri City as I thought he wasn't scheduled to go to Vermont until 2009 or 2010?

Suprised to see Bournazos deleted off of Cedar Rapids Protected list...soon after being listed as top 15 hot prospect for 90's not committed to a college yet.

Sioux City is getting cleaned out, this from an anon source!

Did they leave anyone for the Muskies? Just hit delete and check your bags on the way out!

Idiots!

Barron Smith will be with the London Knights in the OHL next year

Who cares about the Protected Lists and the add/deletes. It does not mean anything and the deletes can still make the team. Its the draft that matters.

why is donnie hallmark protected? 4th yr player? i thought he was going to d3.

Why is Robin Bergman protected?

I'm glad to see so many have nothing to offer.

Not true, most may remain on the rosters.

Fact is less than 50% of drafted players make their team. Let the show begin!

So Schmit is headed to Ferris? I see him on the draft back to Chicago. I think the lists are wrong and he is '09 for now.

I understand the reason for deleting 88's no questions about it. Made more room in the draft.

Some teams had to make changes and there is not anything that can be done about it.

Best of luck to all involved.

Its just hockey!
