Here is a letter from a fan to the Grand Island Independent.
A local Kearney news station had the Storm owner, Joel Wiens, on for an interview. Here is a link to the text from of the video. There is also a video link on this article.
And finally, Seth Blank of the Kearney Hub has a nice article, Storm fans experience identity theft.

Sorry, things change people. Deal with it and grow up or get out of our way.
Alex Nebraska Storm
Ryan....you seem to be enjoying this controversy
It seems controversy is Ryans middle name.
Enough of this stuff. Move on to something pertaining to actual hockey like in skating etc., and keep this stuff for the teams own blogs
Huh? If you want a blog to contain just what you think it should, then start your own.
For one in the middle of what's going on in Central Nebraska, I can tell you this does pertain to actual hockey. If that offends you, then you are more than welcome to leave.
Ha! This is more fun. Next topic? Maybe the change of colors in our website? Then the color of the walls? Then the Zam? The fun could go on forever right?
Bottom Line: Go Storm!!!Clear the path.
Is the current owner of the Storm also an owner of a CHL team? I thought I had seen something mentioning that & wondered if that is a factor in his apparent sabotage of fan support.
The CHL & USHL were for practical purposes competing for a team in Rapid City (no the USHL didn't have a formal thing together yet but had support among a large group). To me it wouldn't be a far fetch to guess that the current Storm owner's loyalties lie more toward the CHL & would like to somehow bring that product to replace a flagging franchise in an amateur league. Never mind that his own actions may cause that franchise to falter but boy, he sure could talk up bringing in professional hockey players & darn wouldn't you guys like to be a step ahead of Omaha & Lincoln & have a PROfessional team in Kearney?
Maybe this is totally off base but just a possibility I wondered about, especially since this owner seems to be out of touch with the fan base.
You guys are a joke. I think some of you are simply jealous of Ryan and his succesful blog. No matter what he blogs about in the USHL, someone has to bitch and moan that he's bias, he wants to be in the middle of everything. He blogs about what is going on in the USHL, if you negative idiots don't like it...go elsewhere.
There are more people that love this blog, rather than the idiots that try and ruin it with negative banter that gets no where. Fans, coaches, staff, players, players parents read this blog and they enjoy what he has to report.
For this reason, this is EXACTLY why Ryan changed the status of the board so that you had to be registered. Anyone notice something? As soon as he changed it back, the idiots started to flow in again.
This is a USHL BLOG which means, the owner may blog about things that happen in the USHL. It's sad when the world has such idiots living in it that can't actually have an adult conversation or blog about something without getting their panties in a wad. The Storm are a team in the USHL, which to me means, they pertain to hockey...considering they are a HOCKEY TEAM.
As John said, if you want to just simply start crap and have nothing good to say or just bag people on the board, go start your own and stop plugging up this blog.
I do believe that most people sincerely appreciate the hard work that Ryan puts into this blog, there are always those people that want to just drag people down...
Well I can't say for sure I would guarantee anything, I would put money that Ryan knows and follows the USHL more than 99.99999% of the people out there.
Ryan, thanks for a great blog. If it wasn't a great blog, you wouldn't have people constantly complaining, it would just be a boring void.
You do a great job Ryan!
Ryan keep up the good work.We may agree to disagree but you do a great job!!!!!!
You guys havent seen some of Ryans posts on other blogs have you? Kinda interesting. Still, this blog has kind of gone to the dogs. But what is a blog where people cannot be allowed to post how they feel even if they do not agree? I do not like to read hear say, that just sucks!
Come on, lets talk hockey and not the team colors!
I do not think everyone that reads this blog where unfavorable posts are written enjoys it. I hope that people are more sensative to how others may read bias or unfavorable posts. What goes around comes around, so if its kept clean it will usually remain so. Like dear old mom said, if you cant say something nice then dont say it at all.
Let's see, where do I start?
Okay, team ownership. Joel Wiens does not own the CHL's Rocky Mountain Rage, his son does. The only direct relationship between the two, is using the two buildings together to book events.
The owner is not intentionally trying to sabotage the USHL team, so he can bring a CHL team to Kearney.
Ryan does a fine job of blogging about the USHL. After my blog shifts focus to another league later this summer, to my knowledge, his will be the only USHL blog out there.
I don't particularly care what Ryan posts on any blogs other than mine and his. Ya wanna disagree with him? Then go ahead. Just don't be an idiot about it.
And talking about the name/color/logo change in Kearney, is talking about hockey. Since there are no games being played now, talking about off-ice issues is all there is to talk about.
John, you are the absolute best.
Lets go Nebrakaaaaaa.

is John leaving Tri-City?
No way John! You cannot leave us with our new logo's on the loose. That's just not cool. Where are you heading?
I wouldn't be surprised if the Storm go without a radio announcer next season...just to cut costs. That whole franchise is going into the toilet.
Tri-City fans are really gonna be ticked if that's true.
No its not going down the drain. Everything will be just dandy you will see.
Stormy
Alright, we all know and love John. If he leaves it will be for his best and we will wish him luck.
Now, if only this blog is left, can we know your full name and can you give us a brief bio?
Thanks,
Ian Cook, Kearney
Not a bad request; what is your bio Ryan?
When will the storms new logo be updated on this here website?
Cool, its pretty up there!
Thanks Ryan
If you people want to know so much about him, how about you email him and ask him questions?
Do you people go on Chris Heinsberg's website and bash him or ask him everything about his personal life? Do you go on John's blog and bash him and ask him about his personal life as well?
Everyone knows John, cause he is not shy or secretive. He is just John and we love him.
But who is Ryan? What are your creds? etc?
John will not be back, not his choice either...
Best of luck John!
This is sad news. John is an icon. But, he will be okay, cause he is a great guy.
