As a Lancer fan, I would say you are being generous in saying it was "controversial".

I watched the replay several times and it's clear that O'Neill just crashes into Robinson. Originally, from the center ice angle, it looks possible that O'Neill was pushed into Robinson by Crandell (Although O'Neil makes no effort to avoid Robinson). However, the view behind the goal makes it clear that O'Neil skates by Crandell, and crashes into Robinson. Neither replay shows where McCreary or the linesmen are, so I don't know what they were (or were not)looking at to miss the call.

I wasn't at the game, so I could not tell what it looked like in the rink, but I assume that the Sioux City TV station is not in some "grand conspiracy" and the tape fairly depicts what happened. It is really sad (and pathetic) that officiating in the USHL is so bad. I can't beleive that Muskies fans didn't burn down the IPB center after the no call (I know if the same no call went against the Lancers at the MAC someone would probably being posting bail money for me).

Wonder if McCreary and crew made it out of Sioux City alive with car tires still inflated?

What is sad is that this series ends on such a sour note. These two teams really played tough, physical, exciting hockey, and it is not fair to anyone fans (especially Muskie fans) to have the series decided by such a bad no call.

Yes Tom right on the money, can not believe they missed that one, I here Mcreary called goal, then waved it off, then got together and called goal again, looks like a preety good pick play on the goalie, being a high school official myself in baseball, basketball, and football, sometimes they just do not see it all Chuck Omaha

I watched the game and it was a tough decision, I bet for the refs. It was a controversial decision; however, it did appear that the Lancer that knocked Robinson was slightly pushed by a Sioux City player and that is probably what the refs saw. It was a good call by the refs to allow the goal

In my years of watching the league, I'm not sure the officiating has been worse on and night-to-night basis ever. It's been pretty poor all year.

Quit crying.

"Wonder if McCreary"

There's been a lot I've wondered about that kid this year. Like, who paid for him to get a spot on the USHL officiating crew?

I'm guessing his daddy is the NHL ref McCreary, in which case he's only here because of his name.

Good news is that he'll probably be moving to ECHL/AHL next year...again, because of his name.

How can this league have such good players & coaches (for the most part) and be so good at developing both of them while at the same time have such crappy on-ice officials that really usually don't get any better as the season progresses?

The refs make a lot of good calls and yes they make a lot of bad calls. Maybe that goal was controversial but it sure looked like O'Neill got bumped by a Sioux City player. There were plenty of checks from behind by Sioux City and no calls were made. It goes both ways.

The goal was allowed at it should have been. Watch the video with an unbiased eye. O'Neill is clearly tied up by a Muskie player and McCreary has his arm up to make the delayed penalty call for interference. O'Neill disengages from the Muskie player who then shoves him, all about 4 feet from Robinson. The collison occurs as a result of the Muskie player's actions...therefore no goalie interference. No different than being checked into the goalie.

By the way Muskie fans, what happened on the other two goals... sun in your eyes? How did McCreary screw you on those two? The Lancers were the superior team in the third period. Sioux City was exhausted and they couldn't get the puck out of their own zone in the final 7 minutes of the game.

Get a towel for Cryin' Ryan. All the whining in the world won't change it now. I was there, how come there is no complaining about Sioux City goon tactics not working. Which player on the bench threw the punch that hit Hepp? Hard to believe those saints from Sioux City would do something like that?

Randy, Omaha

Good Goal. Stop crying. For being a blog about the whole USHL you sure show biased towards certain teams.

Seems like Sewer City had a problem with conditioning this year. In the Omaha OT game they could hardly stand up in the OT period and were outshot 20-6. Yesterdays 3rd period they were obviously out of gas, Omaha was the superior team, now we will not have to put up with Siclianos whining anymore

When this clip hits youtube, you're going to eat these words, right out of Mike Hastings corn hole.

probably the worst call i've ever seen, he clearly ran into robinson without the help of a SC player

From what B2 showed last night it seems like Crandel had push O'Neill into Robinson.
I Would not want to be a ref at that point.
Probably one of the hardest decisions a ref would have to make. but I think it was the right choice
Good try Sioux City . Great match up between the two teams.
Have a great summer Sioux City =)

I'm a Tri-City fan, and that was a HORRIBLE call.

Anyone have thoughts about who will be coaching SC next year?

Anonymous said...

probably Ryan or JLD

Works for me.

Bad call, Omaho clearly took out Robinson, that should have been waved off.

Wow...no reason that goal should have been counted. I've seen this happen a number of times and it always ends up no goal, a penalty, or in most cases a penalty shot. Horrible call

Anonymous said...

How could of that been a penalty shot, rookie

The people that have said Ryan is cryin or that he is biased, please state WHERE he said anything related to that? You Omaha fans need to open your eyes and realize that your team is not a bunch of angels and the fans aren't any better. Sure not like they used to be.

One thing is for sure, I am glad this series is over so no one has to listen or read about how the Lancers are angels and the Musketeers are goons and all of their fans are horrible...blah blah blah. It happens every year and it gets old.

Oh BTW, there are WAYYYYYY more people who thing that it should not have been a goal. So for you people who THINK you know what you are talking about, regardless if you were there or not, it should not have been a goal. I talked to a player from another team that attended that game and he said "In no way that should have been a goal." Hmmmm

Just as clear in the play is that the Omaha player was pushed into the goaltender, hence no goalie interference. And, what happened to the other 16 minutes of the period where Sioux City couldn't protect their lead? Seems to me that there was nearly a full period left after one particular play, but SIOUX CITY COULDN'T GET IT DONE and the Lancers wanted it more. What is also clear in all this is that Sioux City fans are Clark Cup champions in whining, led by their top whiner, Dave Siciliano. The USHL is much better without him around.

Doesn't really matter what all the people say........GOAL!! Lancers win...get over it

Anonymous said...

The lancer forward wasn't pushed. It will be on youtube by the end of the weekend. Then the whole world will know how f'ing cheap omaha really has to be to win a game.

Anonymous said...

I am not a a "musty" fan, but that was text book goalie interference. There is no way that goal should have been allowed. Omaha fans should look at this as a gift. I am glad the Lancers won and good riddens to that joke sissyliaNO. That call was brutal!

Has anyone considered the fact that there probably could have been 2 penalties called on SC during that play? The take down of Connolly & the interference on O'Neill? We watched the game on B2 and the camera angle from behind the net clearly shows Connolly being taken down and Oneill was interfered with, making him crash into Robinson. Even though there was not a delayed penalty at the time, the fact that Omaha scored may have affected the call. You couldn't pay me enough to do that thankless job. I'm sure the refs to their best in a game where the pace is 100mph, 100% of the time.

you lose, we win HA, HA. goodbye, and you suck sewer city

i find it funny that the last post says WE win. i'll bet that if omaha falls to lincoln or in the finals it will be they lost, they didn't play good. you are a fricken loser.

yep looks like that lancer player was shoved right into the goalie, good call, goal stands

Why was the above post deleted, we won on Sewer cities ice and it was sweet, just as they won on our ice in 2000 and rubbed it in our nose, ryan are you a sewer city fan, that post had nothing rude or derogatory in it, quit deleting the posts that you feel are hard to swallow, this is what blogs are for, not for the administrator to pick and chose what he wants people to read

"yep looks like that lancer player was shoved right into the goalie, good call, goal stands"

You're both blind, and ignorant, but I'm pullin' for ya. You hang in there fruitcake.

Anonymous said...

I see a hook by crandall on Oneil and then a push into the goalie, do you other fruitcakes see it, its there, look close, he shoots he scores hey goalie you s--k

Hey...

I'm not a fan of either team. In fact, I really don't see any USHL games at all unless the clip is posted on this blog.

So here's my take: PENALTY.

Sorry folks, the behind the net footage is conclusive. The rules state that a player must make an attempt to avoid collision with the goaltender. He might have been shoved, but the player made ZERO attempt to avoid the collision. The goal should have been waived off and the skater gone to the box for 2 well deserved minutes.

Any WCHA fans out there? If you are out there, expect similar things in the WCHA. The WCHA officials don't care much about goaltender safety either. Running the goaltender has never been as high as it has been the past 3 years.

Yes, UND's JP Lamoureaux is a diver. I admit that. But, if getting run intentionally (which should be a penalty) isn't called, wouldn't YOU dive? Diving usually happens in two situations:

1. The player is cheap. See UW's Robbie Earl

2. The refs lost the rule book and need help with interpretting what an OVERT penalty is. Crosschecking a goaltender is DEFINITELY a penalty.

Anonymous said...

gotta agree with last post. player made no attempt to avoid the gaoltender. Bad Call Ref.
How in the heck does McCreary officiate that many Omaha games???
McCreary seems to cary a considerable amount of controversy along with the outcome of the Omaha games he officiates.
Really What gives
Doesnt anyone question this??
People arent blind
How in the world would any team allow him to officiate a game if they are playing Omaha??

Anonymous said...

good call, did you see the clip, first a obvious hook, then a push, as Oneil tries to regain himself he goes into the Sewer city player, Do not see any problem with Mcreary, hope he does more, thanks for your input, but you must be blind, Ryan please do not delete this post, let the Lancer fans post

Anonymous said...

Mccreary should not be reffing omaha games conflict of interest.

Anonymous said...

Thank goodness McCreary will be gone next year, maybe everyone that plays Omaha will have a chance now. He should have never been doing Omaha games given his "in" with the team or should we say the closeness with ex employees!!!!
