Musketeers Fan Write-Up

The Sioux City Musketeers struggled through the month of January with a 3-5-1 and now sit with a 23-10-1 record; good for 2nd place in West Division and 3rd place overall in the USHL.

Musketeer Leaders:

Scoring: Spencer Heichman- 17 g, 14 a, 31 pts.

Goaltending- Josh Robinson- 15-6, 2.70 gaa, .919 sv%

Last Week Recap:

The Muskies hosted two home games last weekend, going 1-1. Sioux City dropped a 4-1 decision Friday night to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and defeated the Tri-City Storm 5-2 Saturday.

Cedar Rapids scored 2 goals in the first 3:11 of the game Friday and never looked back. Seth Helgeson scored the lone Musketeer goal in the setback. The Muskies came back with an outstanding effort on Saturday, scoring 3 goals in a 49-second span in the 2nd period. Josh Robinson picked up the victory in net.

Up Next:

Sioux City plays two games at the Tyson Events Center this weekend. On Friday, the Waterloo Blackhawks come to town. The Musketeers are 1-1 on the season against Waterloo, dropping their last decision to them 2-0 at Young Arena. On Saturday, the Sioux Falls Stampede come calling. Sioux City is 3-1 v.s. their rivals this season. The Muskies hit the road on Tuesday to take on Tri-City, who they are 4-0 against.

Musketeer Tidbits:

-Sioux City forward Alex Tuckerman won the Ron Woodey Award for being the Most Valuable Player of the 2008 USHL All-Star Game held in Green Bay. Tuckerman tallied 2 goals in the contest

-Jake Johnson was added to the roster and is expected to join the team at the conclusion of his Minnesota high school season. Johnson is currently 4th in the state in scoring with 22 goals and 40 assists in 22 games

-Defenseman Cody Butcher was suspended for last Saturday’s game because of too many 10-minute misconducts

-After going to Tri-City on Tuesday, The Musketeers are back at home for two games against Lincoln and Chicago. They then go to Cedar Rapids on 2/12
