what the h-e double hockeysticks is going on with the team in Des Moines? Somebody better tell Regg they changed the playoff format back, and not every team will be in this year.

Wow!! You are so right what did happen to the Buc's. Every article states that they just made a couple of "mistakes" and they would have been right in the game..what a joke. If you look at their roster now compared to the beginning of the season..there are only about 4-6 players that remain from the original roster...and they still can't get it done!! Is it the coach, the bad scouts or the "highly touted" players that can't get it done?

Maybe he's reading a new "Coaching Junior Hockey for Dummies" book, written by Mark Kaufman

An interesting stat I saw last night. The Bucs are last in the league with 53 goals while the Steel are second with 108. But the Bucs have taken three more shots this year than the Steel!!!

I saw both games in Chicago this weekend. The Bucs showed me they are a very hard working club but don't seem to have many finishers. They were about even in SOG's this weekend but as the above stat shows they just don't score.

They played the Steel even in the two games, worked very hard all six periods, but unfortunately left with no points.

the bucs can play even all they want with a mediocre chicago team but are in real trouble vs the better teams in the ushl. Where is all the fire power in matson, dorr, etc. looking at their schedule upcoming, it looks very bad for the lowly bucs. ouch.

Every "new" player for the Buc's team that comes in is the answer...and they never are!! The comments that Regg makes after the games are funny...google the Des Moines Register after some of their games and you will see for yourself. "My team played great, but they made only 2 mistakes tonight" in a 4-2 loss!

They can't hit the net! No finishers but a hard working bunch.

The Buc's are in trouble, they got a "gift" last year to be able to get in the playoffs with a poor record...their gift is gone. The hole is so big they are in, they will never get out!

Earlier post mentioned Buc's trades and changes in roster. They got rid of Bailey, who had over 30 points last year and kept a kid that had 5! Just one example of why the changes aren't too smart, maybe he is really reading the "Dummies book" after all!

Keeping the kid with 5 points is 4 more points than returning veteran prior year #1 draft pick had this season. 31 points in 57 games, should result in more than 1 assist in 11 games in your 2nd year. To me it seems, he decided to be lazy in the off-season.

In regards to last season, every USHL team, USHL coach and USHL GM knew prior to the start of the season what it took to make the play-offs ... finish the season. To say Des Moines had a poor season last year is laughable. 68 points, just 14 points behind the Anderson Cup winner (not the next team ahead of them, or their division leader). They finished higher than 4 teams. And then to win the first round in convincing fashion 4-1 over the #1 seed, twice in OT in Omaha. Then being the only team to beat Sioux Falls in the play-offs. Setting a League Power Play goal record.

Now I in agreement about the comments made in Des Moines Regsiter by the coaching staff are very laughable in regards to having scoring threats and such. If I was a player from a so-called hockey hot-bed (Minnesota, Michigan, New England) and trailing a player from Iowa in scoring on the team would be embarrassing.

FYI, 21 of the original 25 are still on the roster (2 players, Dorr & Maley started the season on the IR). Of the 4 no longer on the team, one was traded to Indiana (Blood-D) another had a season ending injury (Vogelb.....-F), two were basically cut. To solve the Bucs #1 problem is very difficult, where are you going to find goal scorers this late in the season? Aaron Palushaj and Ben Ryan still have junior eligiblity left, maybe they can come back and help. I think Kyle Okposo might have eligibility left, not sure how things work since he signed a pro contract. Same with Trevor Lewis.

Another problem that goes hand-in-hand with no goal scorers, is not scoring the 1st goal enough. Currently the team that scores first wins 68.5% of the games.
