As for McCreary, he was NOT a favorite of mine last season. This season though, he has seemed to let teams play and call the more blatant stuff, so I think he is actually developing, so I have no problem with McCreary as a selection this year.
"This is a great event in that it recognizes the best that we have on the ice during the season, but the guys on the ice that have the hardest job and often get overlooked are the officials," said USHL President Gino Gasparini. "These four young men have proven to be the best in our league and are definitely deserving of this honor."
Great quote from Gino. I don't know if anyone can honestly agree with that.

Sullivan and McCreary are the best the USHL has to offer?
Wow. Gino must be huffing paint. A bowl of bean dip could ref a better game than Sullivan.
All you so-called experts .... who is a more qualified referee than the two selected?
Any other than those two is a start, Sieve.
You think it's a coincidence Sully isn't hated in every arena?
* should be "is hated" *
Mike McCreary has really grown as an official. Last year, he struggled at times, this year, from what I have seen, he has been consistantly good. I think it shows how well this league developes not only players, but officials as well. McCreary will be in the NHL sooner than later.
I follow the IHL pretty closely, and these two are widely disliked from Port Huron to Bloomington....
But, as one poster poited out, I don't know who I would appoint!
I love Sully!!!!!!!!!
I love Sully!!!!!!!!!
Who cares if they're disliked around the IHL? Last I checked, we were talking about the USHL here.
These refs make me wish Ciamaga and Fraser would come back. Even Lemelin would be better than what they put in stripes most nights.
usually when a player or coach or ref is promoted to the next level it means that they have improved. For some reason the league seems to believe the more hated the ref the better he is. I think it's possible to be a good ref and not have every fan in the league ( except one person) dislike you. Obviously if fans from other leagues have issues with the refs, it shouldn't be of any surprise that fans in the USHL don't like them either.
