News and Notes

Lucky Duck: Ex-sailor gets his shot.
‘‘There was a week there where I was skating by myself, completely healthy, waiting for a team to call,’’ Hoffman said. ‘‘I definitely spent two or three nights wondering if my career would ever get going again.’’
Stars coach Steve Johnson has signed a 2 year contract extension.

An interesting note:
Forwards Jason Gregoire and Patrick Johnson, and veteran goaltender Bryan Hogan have each made college commitments, but may return for another year of development before jumping to the college ranks.
Tonight marks the last night of first round playoff action. Sioux City travels to Kearney tonight to determine the winner in this best of seven series. Tri-City will be without goaltender Aaron Rock, as he had to go back home for a medical emergency. This should be an excellent game to watch. Good luck to both teams.
