"I don't think anybody is really for it," said Tri-City coach Bliss Littler, whose team begins its first-round series against Sioux City on Friday. "There's not an alternative.

"The owners wanted more weekend dates, and they got this by the league this (regular) season," Littler said. "They did that and looked, and the old format wouldn't work. We'd play hockey until June."

"It will not change the way we play," said Tri-City captain Mario Lamoureux. "I like the old format better. There's nothing I can do about it, I won't complain about it. We're just going to go out and play every night."
