Notes

I'm tired, so this is going to be short and sweet.

According to a couple of my anonymous posters, Sioux Falls has added standout forward Jake Hansen to their roster (their 1st round futures pick) and released Alexi Doistonov. Alexi spent the pre-season with Des Moines before being released and added by the Stampede. Hansen has lit the lamp 21 times already this season, and has also recorded 33 helpers. He should help the Stampede as soon as he officially joins the team.

Another one mentioned Green Bay's Kurt Davis has committed to Minnesota State University-Mankato. Davis has had a breakout year for the Gamblers this year, and could be considered one of the better overage defensemen in the league.

Chris Heisenberg reports that Indiana's Mike Gurtler and Waterloo's Isak Tranvik have made their college committments. Gurtler will play at Mercyhurst next fall, and Tranvik will enroll at Quinnipiac next fall.

Gurtler, who hails from Rochester, New York, has recorded 11 points in 30 games for the Ice this season. He appears to have some size, so that is always a plus.

Tranvik, a native of Robbinsdale, Minnesota, is in his second year with the Black Hawks. He notched 25 points last season, and is on pace to top that mark this season. He has 14 points through 35 games so far, including 6 goals.

The Boston Globe published an article featuring former Waterloo Black Hawk's Cory Quirk.

Jon Morrow, who was released by Lincoln nearly a month ago, found his way onto one of the NAHL's best teams, the Mahoning Valley Phantoms. Morrow got the nod last night, and shined in his debut. Morrow stopped 18 of the 20 shots he faced, notching a victory in his first game with the Phantoms.

Chicago Steel to team up with the Rockford IceHogs and play a pair of games vs Sioux City in Rockford.
