Random Notes

Western College Hockey Blog reports that former Lincoln Star Dan Riedel has left Ferris State.

Tri-City has their "Guns N Hoses" night tonight.

“Guns & Hoses” will honor members of central Nebraska fire departments, police departments, state patrol, sheriff’s offices and emergency management personnel.
These are a little late, but I suppose better late than never.

Former Musketeer and Storm player wins $25,000.

Four Former USHLers to compete in NHL All-Star festivities. These four include Thomas Vanek, Jason Blake, Brian Rafalski, and Matt Carle.

Excellent article on former Buccaneer, Kyle Okposo.

Sioux City takes on Indiana again tonight. All 3 previous games have ended in a 3-2 final score. Look for Alex Kangas to be in net for the Ice, and Kuhn should be in net for Sioux City to make this a goalie showdown. I expect another quality game between these two clubs.

Des Moines travels to Kearney to take on the Storm tonight. Des Moines has a chance to pull into a 2nd place tie with Tri-City at 40 points. Des Moines, however, is not playing very well lately. They were blown out last night at home vs Omaha, 7-4. Des Moines wins 4-3.

Omaha heads to Waterloo for a showdown. Omaha beat Waterloo last Tuesday in Omaha, so the Hawks will be looking for redemption. Waterloo is nearly unbeatable at home, but Omaha is riding a hot streak. Should be a great match up of top goalies in Palmisano and DiGirolamo. Waterloo squeaks out a 3-2 win.

Green Bay visits Cedar Rapids this evening. Green Bay has not done well at all vs Cedar Rapids, being outscored 25 to 17, including an 8-2 loss to the Riders in Green Bay. Green Bay has a lot of work to do to figure out the Riders, or they will be blown out once again. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict Green Bay to win 5-4.

Chicago takes on Lincoln again tonight. Last night, Chicago snapped their 8 game losing streak by defeating the Stars 3-2 in OT. Matt Godlewski put home the game winner at the 3:19 mark. The win was only Chicago's 6th of the year. With the loss, Lincoln dropped to last place in the West. Lincoln should win this one after being embarrassed last night. Stars win 4-1.

Green Bay got Boot stomped last time cr played them and probly get it again. With Somma out 6-8 weeks and the team not playing well before that. I cant see them winning much against the higher ranked teams?

had the right score for OM-WA and DM-TC games, just backwards.

Not a bad prediction on the Lincoln game though

And why is Somma out 6-8 weeks?

That was close for the TC game, I was going to rib you for getting the numbers wrong, but then I saw it was just reversed. I'm in awe of your prediction skills!

Somma broke a bone in this hand, dont know for sure when it happened but it not good for the Gamblers. He's going to be out of at least 6-8 weeks if not more.
