A few Transactions

Indiana has picked up forward Eric Miller from the Seguin Bruins of the OPJHL. Eric has spent time with Indiana previously. Indiana released Pat Kenney to make room.

“With the acquisition of Eric we hope to add depth to our goal scoring punch without compromising any of our grit,” said Ice Assistant Coach Scott McConnell. “We really look forward to him contributing to our playoff run as we approach the end of the season.”

Waterloo traded overage forward Sean Murphy to Green Bay. This move opened up the way for Mitch Ryan to return to Waterloo. Ryan had just left the University of Minnesota-Duluth recently, and should be able to land on with another school before long.

Chicago has acquired veteran forward Ryan Raven from Omaha. Chicago gave a 5th round draft pick to acquire Raven. Chicago had two chances previously to acquire Raven, but didn't do so. They now give up a draft pick, not that it will amount to a whole lot, but he would have been FREE before.

Bensenville, IL (January 11, 2007) -- The NHL Central Scouting Bureau has released their January mid-term rankings, and newly acquired left shot defensemen Ryan McDonagh is ranked number 12 overall on the list of North American Skaters. McDonagh's ranking makes him the highest ranked player on a USHL roster.

McDonagh was added to the Chicago Steel protected list last week and plays as a senior for Cretin-Durham Hall High School in Minnesota. He is expected to join the team after his high school season is finished.

Poor kid. He doesn't know what he's getting himself into.

To make room for Raven on the roster, the Steel released second year forward Mike Janda. Janda will proceed to have shoulder surgery and will head to RIT to continue his hockey career next fall.

I was told that Janda was extremely mad about being released and that he was released because he wasn't in Chicago's future plans. Uh, no crap Mr. Koehler. He's an 86 and committed.
