Derek Danowski has a new home, and that's in Cedar Rapids.
Danowski comes over from the Ohio Jr. Blue Jackets, where he appeared in 11 games. The Warren, MI native posted 4 points for the Jackets while he was there. Prior to joining Ohio, Derek played for the Texas Tornado of the
NAHL. While playing for Texas, he was able to capture two league titles with the Tornado. Derek also had a short stint with the Green Bay Gamblers in 2004-2005 and recorded 5 points in 25 games. He should be a nice addition to the Rider lineup, as he brings veteran leadership and
USHL experience with him.
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Junior Blue Jackets traded forward Derek Danowski (Warren, Mich.) to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders for a pick in the 2007 United States Hockey League Draft in May, General Manager Don Harkins announced today.
"As we look to develop our younger players with additional ice time, we felt we couldn't give Derek the kind of playing time he desired," said Harkins. "Derek is a great kid and we wish him the best of luck."
