Canadian Jaden Schwartz waits to be selected in NHL Draft as sister, Mandi, fights for her life

Yale hockey player Mandi Schwartz's jersey hangs in a locker at Ingalls Rink. Mandi is fighting leukemia. Her brother, Jaden Schwartz, awaits his selection in next Friday's NHL Draft.

Jaden Schwartz will be taking finals this week, the last strenuous step toward graduating from high school. Next week, he'll turn 18, and he'll be spending the occasion in L.A., waiting for someone in a suit to tell him it's okay to start celebrating a little.

Schwartz, and his family, could use a little celebration.

Fargo hopes 2010 Entry Draft class is a success

The Fargo Force started preparing for the 2010-2011 season with the United States Hockey League Entry Draft on Wednesday. Fargo selected three former North American Hockey League players, three Minnesota High School players, and one USHL player among the sixteen players they took in the draft.

Massa to return for encore season

Ryan Massa had an incredible season with the Fargo Force during the 2009-2010 campaign. After coming over from Bismarck in an early season trade, Massa was the calming factor that helped lead Fargo to their second straight Clark Cup Finals appearance. Massa is coming back to Fargo for an encore run with the Force in 2010-2011.

Buffalo Sabres draft pick Mark Adams didn't light the USHL on fire from the backend in 2009-10, but it did prove to be an important development year for him that should help ensure continued success. Adams, known as a puckmoving defenseman in the Massachusetts high school ranks for Malden Catholic prior to being drafted, further honed his offensive game with the Chicago Steel, but he also made significant strides in his defensive game.
