Building a new arena has been approved and sounds to be pretty close financially as well. This would be great for the league, as it would give Green Bay a close rival.
A Chicago-area investment group that owns a United States Hockey League franchise that would play at the arena has pledged $10 million for the project and is soliciting money from local investors to cover the remaining costs. Village President Neal Torney said he understands the group is about $1 million from its goal, and the gap could be closed through in-kind contributions such as building materials and windows.
